This story keeps you guessing, you will be wondering if Elijah and Esther will ever be able to be together. You will feel their emotions and the dilemma they are in will have you wondering if you would be willing to put your life on the line for someone you love. There are so many odds against them, but they are willing to leave it all in the Lord's hands, because they knew whatever His decision was it would be for the best. I will have to say that once I finished reading I wanted more, there is much more story to tell about Elijah an Esther's lives.I received a copy of this book from the author for my honest review.
Ps: Some may say this story is unrealistic that these things could not happen during that era, well they did happen. They are rarely talked about or written about, but they happened. I applaud JM Downey for writing this story. I'm always looking for historical romance novels that feature people of color.
